Why do men think all women are gold diggers?

i've just noticed so many guys claiming that all women want is money. and i wonder what makes them think so. i dont know about the rest of you, but i personally dont know any gold digger. or do men think that expecting a guy to pay for a date or treating her is being a gold digger?
