Gruff old man with a long Gabby Hayes-style grey beard and battered hat who lives alone in a log cabin with only his mule for company. Known to say things like "dadburnit" and "durn tootin," chews tobacco, uses gold dust instead of money, and brandishes a shotgun which he uses to scare off anyone who comes near his mine/gold panning trough
